Green Kiwi and Mint Recovery Shake

Green shakes have a reputation problem, largely because most of them taste like lawn. The trick is using kiwifruit as the base rather than apple — the acidity carries the spinach instead of masking it.

Ingredients

  • 2 scoops Formula 1 Nutritional Shake Mix, Mint Chocolate
  • 2 green kiwifruit, peeled
  • Large handful baby spinach
  • 250ml cold water
  • 4 fresh mint leaves
  • 4 ice cubes

Method

  1. Blend the spinach and water alone for 20 seconds until there are no visible leaf fragments. This single step is the difference between smooth and gritty.
  2. Add the kiwifruit, mint leaves and ice. Blend 15 seconds.
  3. Add the Formula 1 last and blend 20 seconds more.

On kiwifruit

Green kiwifruit contain actinidin, an enzyme that helps break down protein — handy in a shake built around it. Use fruit that gives slightly under thumb pressure; rock-hard kiwifruit are sour and underripe ones turn the shake claggy.

After a hard session

If this is genuinely post-training, add a scoop of Herbalife24 Rebuild Strength and use 300ml of water. The mint and chocolate carry it without clashing.
