The gap between lunch and dinner is where most good intentions die. These live in the freezer and take one hand to eat.
Ingredients (makes about 20)
- 3 scoops Formula 1 Nutritional Shake Mix, Cookies n Cream
- 2 scoops Protein Drink Mix
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup natural almond butter
- 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup
- 3–4 tablespoons milk, as needed
- 2 tablespoons desiccated coconut for rolling
Method
- Combine the oats and both powders in a bowl and stir them dry. Powder that meets wet ingredients unevenly will clump and never recover.
- Warm the almond butter and honey together for 20 seconds so they pour rather than fight you.
- Pour the wet into the dry and mix. Add milk one tablespoon at a time until the mix holds together when squeezed — think firm dough, not batter.
- Chill the bowl for 20 minutes. This is not optional; warm mix will not roll.
- Roll into walnut-sized balls, then roll through the coconut.
- Freeze on a tray for an hour, then transfer to a container.
Storage
Three weeks in the freezer, one week in the fridge. Eat them straight from frozen — they soften in about two minutes and the firmer texture makes you slow down.
A word on portions
These are genuinely nice, which is the problem. Two is a snack. Six is a meal you did not plan for. Portion them into small bags if that is likely to be an issue.
