A large iced chai from a cafe can carry 40 grams of sugar. This version tastes close, costs less, and gives you protein instead.
Ingredients
- 2 scoops Formula 1 Nutritional Shake Mix, French Vanilla
- 250ml cold milk of your choice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
- Small pinch of ground ginger and ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 6 ice cubes
Method
- Mix the dry spices together in a small cup before they go anywhere near the blender. Clumps of cardamom are unpleasant.
- Blend the milk, ice and vanilla for 15 seconds.
- Add the Formula 1 and spice mix. Blend 20 seconds.
- Pour over a tall glass of fresh ice and dust the top with a little extra cinnamon.
Batch the spice mix
Make ten times the spice quantity in a jar and keep it by the blender. One level teaspoon per shake. It takes the prep from two minutes to twenty seconds, and that difference is usually what decides whether you make it on a Tuesday.
Afternoon version
If this is your 3pm shake rather than breakfast, add a sachet of Instant Herbal Beverage to the blend for a gentle lift without the crash.
